FunGuy CO₂ Generator Bags provide a controlled biological method of CO₂ supplementation for enclosed grow spaces such as hydroponic tents and greenhouses. By utilising a specialised fungal strain and a highly refined organic substrate, these bags deliver a stable, sustained release of carbon dioxide without the complexity or cost of traditional CO₂ systems.
Inside each bag is a carefully selected mycelial culture designed for vigorous colonisation and high CO₂ output. As the fungi metabolise the substrate, they consume oxygen and release carbon dioxide as a natural by-product of respiration. This process runs continuously, offering a steady supply of CO₂ directly into the growing environment.
A gas-exchange filter patch on the bag enables consistent CO₂ diffusion while maintaining internal sterility, protecting the culture from external contaminants.
For optimal dispersion, position the FunGuy CO₂ bag above the plant canopy. Because CO₂ is denser than air at equal temperature and pressure, it will settle downward over your plants. Adequate internal air movement is recommended to distribute the CO₂ evenly and prevent stratification at floor level.
Each FunGuy CO₂ bag remains active for up to six months, depending on environmental variables such as temperature and airflow. To maintain more consistent CO₂ concentrations, a staggered replacement schedule is recommended:
Month 0: Install the first bag
Month 3–4: Introduce a second bag
Month 6: Replace the original bag and continue the rotation
This method helps smooth out the natural decline in CO₂ output over time.
The substrate will gradually shift in appearance from brown to white as the mycelium develops. This is expected behaviour and indicates successful colonisation and active CO₂ generation.
